Lawrence Gunther, Founder of the Blind fishing boat initiative and member of the HobieCat Fishing Team, is organizing the world’s first-ever competitive kayak fishing tournament of the blind!

LOCATION: Nangor Resort, West Meath Ontario, Ottawa River
Date: May 24 2013,.
Time: Start at 12: p.m. – finish at 4: p.m.

*Largest Fish caught, measured, photographed and released alive wins!

*Each blind competitor will compete independently aboard HobieCat kayaks equipped with Mirage peddle drive systems

*The tournament will be held on a bay (3X1 km) on the Ottawa River

*Each blind fisher will be provided with a talking Trekker Breeze GPS device, a MaxPAC audio compass, and a waterproof tactile map.

*Tournament Marshals aboard Shadow boats will measure and photograph captured fish

*An air horn will signal the top of each hour, 30 minutes remaining, and once each minute for the last ten minutes.

*Late arrivals will have one inch deducted from the length of their largest fish for each minute late

*Trophies for first and second place will be awarded during a special red carpet dinner Friday evening at the West Meath Fire Haul
