2009 Ottawa Valley Sportsman Show

This year in stead of exhibiting my 12-foot Blind Fishing Porta-Bote, I joined forces with Rob Atkinson of Fish Hawk and Laurentian Marine of Ottawa.  Fish Hawk and Laurentian are both huge supporters of the Blind Fishing Initiative, and it was a blast to join them at the Show.

The Show was busy and we had many visitors throughout the 2.5 days (21 hours).  ON Saturday morning I gave a seminar which Show Organizers entitled, “Blind Fishing Intro — Punched UP!”.  Not quite the title I had in mind, (long story), but I thought it was pretty funny.  After the presentation I took Maestro, my guide dog, around to visit the simulated duck hunting game as he was keen on checking out the sound of ducks being blasted at the other end of the hall.  He seemed a bit disappointed when he figured out they were fake…

I’m always amazed by the diversity of people that love the sport of fishing.  Women, couples, young and old, from every corner of the earth, we all share both a love for spending a day on the water catching fish, and concern for conserving this amazing resource we are so fortunate to be in the midst of as Canadians.
